End TB 2019: 23rd Annual Conference of The Union-North America Region
We look forward to welcoming you in Vancouver for the End TB 2019 Conference. Our multidisciplinary planning committee has been hard at work to bring you a robust and engaging program that will include timely topics such as advocacy and policymaker perspectives on the UN High-Level Meeting on TB, the latest on TB diagnostics, drugs, treatment, prevention and clinical trials, LTBI treatment for special populations such as the elderly and non-HIV immunosuppressed, and approaches to effective community engagement.?
Highlights will include keynote addresses from Dr. Patricia Daly on opioid use and TB and from Dr. Eric Goosby on the next steps following the UN High-Level Meeting on TB.

Call for Late-Breaking Abstracts
We encourage you to submit your recently completed research on all aspects of tuberculosis care and prevention, including epidemiologic, clinical, basic science, nursing, social, behavioural, psychosocial and educational studies, as well as outcomes of program initiatives. Selected abstracts will be eligible for poster presentation only. We regret we do not have additional travel grants at this time.?

Lifetime Achievement Award and Service Award Nominations
The North American Region of The Union is calling for nominations of its awards. Each year, the region recognizes the valuable contributions of our colleagues working in the field of tuberculosis control and prevention. The awards will be presented during the 23rd Annual Conference of?The Union-NAR, which will be held in Vancouver, Canada on February 21-23, 2019. Deadline for nominations for awards is October 9, 2018.
Service Awards are given to individuals who have made a significant contribution to the field of TB. Previous recipients have included administrators, educators, public health advisors, nurses, and physicians.
Lifetime Achievement Award is the highest honour of the region. It is given to an individual who has made outstanding contributions in the field of TB over a lifetime.?
Call for Nominations for President-Elect
The Union-North America Region is seeking nominations for President-Elect. The mission of NAR is to harness the significant capacity of the region to promote better lung health. In order to fulfill this mission, we need all our members, countries, groups and organizations to be actively involved. The unofficial practice of NAR has been to alternate its presidents between Canada and the U.S.?
In this call, we will be accepting nominations from Canada. It is important that the executive committee, on which the President-Elect sits, reflects the broad experience, skills, wisdom and capacity of our membership.?Deadline for nomination is November 7, 2018.
The President-Elect will automatically become President of the Union-NAR after serving a term of two (2) years under the mentorship of the President and per?NAR Charter. The President-Elect will also assist the Past-President in co-chairing the Nominating Committee.
